Website Design and Usability Services
Website Design and Usability
It’s hard to quantify, yet good design can move your ecommerce website or CMS site across the winner line. Good design provides credibility, reassurance & inspiration and can be the difference between a competent website and a great one. No two clients are the same. No two websites are the same. We bring real versatility to creating a user interface that is appropriate to the brand and your target customers.

Website Usability
Usability is central to the success of any website or application.
We go to great lengths, including independent third-party testing, if appropriate, to ensure that what we design and develop is completely usable by the target audience.
Whether your website is ecommerce enabled or a non-transactional website, the start-point for us is the website visitor: who are they, what do they want to achieve, why will they visit the website.
With this insight as our touchstone, we can judge:
- is the content and functionality structured appropriately (information architecture)?
- is it obvious to the website visitor what they need to do, or where they need to go, to achieve what they want to achieve (navigation and sign-posting)?
- does the user interface help, or hinder, the visitors understanding of the website, the brand, the company (design)?
- does the functionality genuinely add value, is it relevant to the task, or does it just confuse?
- is the content (copy, images, rich media etc) helpful?
Website Accessibility
Designing and developing an accessible website for our clients achieves three things:
- it ensures our clients are not prosecuted under the Disability Discrimination Act for operating a website that discriminates against disabled people
- it ensures people with disabilities including blindness, poor eyesight, colour blindness or shaky hands can make full use of the website which can lead to an increase in sales and lead generation
- by and large, what is good from an accessibility perspective is good from a search engine optimisation perspective; so our sites are not only accessible to the significant number of people with disabilities, but even more visible to the search engines used by everybody
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 have been developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the international body which creates Web standards. W3C's mission is to lead the Web to its full potential, which it does by developing technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) that will create a forum for information, commerce, inspiration, independent thought, and collective understanding.
We will discuss with you what needs to be done to comply with the various levels (A, AA, AAA). Depending on the nature of the website or application, there may be implications for complying with a higher level in terms of:
- Design and development time (and hence cost)
- Functionality
