- The first option is to manage products enriching them with translations into other languages, multiple images, links to downloadable content, through the administration system.
- The second way is through integration with an ERP system, feeding structured product data into the system. The product data can then be enriched through the administration system and then delivered through any channel. All feeds can be managed via Red’s Data Transfer Scheduler using Web Services, TAB or XML.

Product catalogue management (PCM)
One centralised product catalogue integrating product data feeds from your suppliers, product data created in-house and from external contributors. No limit to the number of feeds that you can hook in. There are three main ways that products can be managed through the system:

conductit CMS’ high capacity PIM is proven to handle over 1 million products and comes with a number of features to help you find the product(s) that you want to manage. The search facility covers Product ID, Product Code, Product Name, Short Description & Long Description fields, combined with the comprehensive set of filter controls product results based on category, channel and domain.
Support for different product types
Conductit’s PIM can handle a number of different product types including gift vouchers, testers, free gifts, events, subscriptions and donations. New product types can be created on the fly using the PIM and can be assigned to individual products.
Product attributes
Product attributes are generally customer-facing, configurable characteristics of a product or its components. Multiple product attributes can be created and configured against individual products to drive front end functionality. Some examples of product attributes include colour or size variations and purchase options such as buy online, pre-order or collect in store.
Multi-Channel Solutions
Product Information Management (PIM) ensures the successful implementation of a multi-channel strategy by becoming a central channel-neutral hub, for managing all aspects of the user experience across all channels. Whether you’re looking to integrate channels like ePOS and Kiosks or you are branching out into sales channels such as mobile, eBay, Amazon and Play.com, conductit can be setup to have automatic feeds punching out or feeding in product data. These feeds can also link your online stores to price comparison channels like Google Shopping & Kelkoo, or other affiliate sites.
The process of taking structured and un-structured data, enriching it and turning it into a powerful sales tool is the core requirement of a PIM. Using the PIM interface, enabling the delivery of rich data, consistently presented through any channel. Unvarying rich product data and brand communications, synchronised across online and offline channels. PIM also needs to be looked upon as an enabler to data synchronisation and to improving supply chain collaboration.
The PIM allows you to configure several options against each product allowing you to assign products to appear in selected categories, channels and domains, options against each product controlling whether a product is live, exists in the catalogue, is included in on-site search results, features in the sitemap and whether or not the product can be added to basket.

Facets
Instead of forcing one way to view the items, Faceted Navigation allows users to view the items in any way they want. At the same time they learn how the items are structured so that they may consider other search strategies in the future.
Unlike a traditional hierarchical structure, faceted classification gives the users the ability to find items based on more than one dimension. For example, some users shopping for jewellery may be most interested in browsing by particular type of jewellery (earrings, necklaces), while others are more interested in browsing by a particular material (gold, silver). “Material” and “type” are examples of facets; earrings, necklaces, gold, silver are examples of facet values.
Faceted search has established itself as an important factor for users to have a fast and successful search experience. Perfect product data with a complete set of attributes makes faceted search function properly. Facets can be used in category / product listing pages and for search results.
Differential pricing & Multi-currency
Manage multiple price lists for your products and display personalised pricing to specific user groups. Pricing can also be displayed in multiple currencies and options can be given to the user to toggle between RRP and trade pricing. Pricing can be added and updated by a user using a variety of methods, one way is to edit each price for a product on an ad-hock basis through the administration system’s edit product interfaces, the second is by using the mass import/export tool which allows you to export pricing make changes and then upload them or these can be automatically feed into the system via an integration.
Multi-lingual CMS
Use conductit CMS to create and manage product content in multiple languages and ensure that the correct translated content is displayed to the right visitors. The PIM can be used to store content translated into any language and translations can either displayed on multiple country specific sites or through site in site, where a user can select a language and all content is replaced with the correct language
Image management
conductit CMS’ built-in image manipulation and management tool streamlines the process administering multiple product images. conductit’s image manipulation tool can take a single high resolution image and from that create multiple product views, thumbnails and image zooms, automatically saving them using the correct naming convention and storing them in the correct folder location for use in the storefront.
